Marie Kondo's Bathroom Tidying Categories

Happy Friday! This should get you started and rolling into the weekend. Here are the categories you'll find in the bathroom in Marie Kondo’s book, The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up:

  • Hair products (sprays, gels, brushes, combs)

  • Makeup and makeup tools

  • Trial samples

  • Skincare products (moisturizers, shaving products, loofahs, scrubbers)

  • Soaps and other cleansers (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash)

  • Medicine

  • First aid supplies

  • Perfume and cologne

  • Toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash

  • Towels and washcloths

  • Bath toys (for kids)

Where should you start?

I'd start with the category that makes the most sense to you.

How do I declutter again?

Remember to gather all the items that fit within that category. Do a thorough search and grab everything you think falls under that category.

I advise you to get a box to declutter the bathroom. That way you have something you can put everything into, in one place. Plus, since a lot of things might be wet (if they're coming out of the shower) or a little dusty (like makeup) it will keep things cleaner.

Grab a trash bag. Unfortunately, most things from the bathroom won't have a second life unless you can think of someone who might be able to use a product you already have.

Now, pick up each item in your decluttering box. Does it bring me joy?

If so, it's a keeper. If not, give it a thank you and place it in the trash, or pass it on to someone you know would like it.

Are you excited to tidy up the bathroom? Enjoy the weekend!!! xoxo
