Prep for Spring Cleaning and Bathroom Decluttering

It's March 1st, which brings us to the third section of our home decluttering challenge: the bathroom! The bathroom for some of us might also be a laundry room, but generally speaking, it's a place to get clean, get ready, and ya know, do those other things we all need to do. Because of this, it's essential to have a clean and tidy bathroom. While the same goes for the kitchen, where we prepare food, the bathroom is just as important.

So let's get started.

Step 1: Take photos of how your bathroom looks now

I just did this myself. It's not the cleanest in this moment, nor the most tidy. But, that's why we do these focused months so we can dive in and start to weed out what's not working and where we want to go.

Step 2: Notice what is working

Give yourself credit for the things that are working. For instance, the wire shelving over my washer and dryer stay clean and organized without me having to do much. I think it's because everything has its own place with a designated spot. I know where the towels go. I've got my bin of "ugly rags" up there. I've got two other baskets that each contain laundry products.

Step 3: Notice what is not working

And obviously, what isn't working will probably be a bit more obvious. For me, the process of the laundry itself isn't the best organized so that's my challenge to figure out a better solution.

I also want to revisit all my things under the sink.

Step 4: Make a list of those things you want to change

This can be in your decluttering notebook, or just a post-it you put on the mirror in your bathroom where you'll see it everyday. Let your brain go to work in the background coming up with solutions for those things you want to change.

What do you see as your biggest challenges in the bathroom? What do you want to change or find a solution for?
